Deon Lay (Chair)
Born in Lake Grace in the mid 60’s, Deon’s parents, Jim and Melva, took up a new land block in Esperance and they moved there with the children when Deon was about 2 yrs. old. They worked hard to clear it and establish a productive farm. The eldest of 4 children, Deon was educated in Esperance, travelling to and fro on a bus each day.
Upon completing year 12 Deon returned to the farm to work with his father, an EOPP Life Member, but didn’t take long before setting out doing contracting work so he could branch out on his own.
Deon is currently in the process of handing over the day-to-day management to his eldest son, and third partner in the business, and is managing the contract clay spreading operation.
Deon joined the board in 1999. He held the position of Vice Chair for 8 years before accepting the position of Chair in 2018.
Deon was awarded Life Membership of EOPP in 2017.
