Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be part of Esperance Organised Primary Producers Co-Operative Limited?

The short answer is – it’s great! There are so many positives to being part of a co-op. As a small, isolated town – with many of our farmers living on vast properties, adding to the isolation – being part of a co-operative provides a sense of togetherness and a joint feeling of responsibility towards the economic sustainability of our town.

As farmers, or those who know, support or work with farmers, we are all here to support each other; through seeding, harvest, and all of the times in-between.

In addition to the sense of the community provided by being part of a co-operative, there are the perks of member specials and discounts, as well as the EOPP trading rebates. There are also the feel-good vibes of knowing you are supporting the local business community, (and your money is staying in the community rather than flowing out).

Some of the projects we have completed include:

  • Developing our annual scholarship to support a high school student in the Esperance Port Zone attend and Agricultural College of WA in Years 11 and 12
  • Sponsoring the SEPWA Ladies Day
  • Facilitating a Meat Value Adding Group and a Grain Value Adding Group
  • Sponsoring the Esperance Rural Leadership Course
  • Donating to Esperance Districts Agcare
  • Sponsoring and managing the finances for a Rural Women’s Study Tour
  • Supporting BlazeAid and the Cascade Scaddan Fire Review

What some of our members have to say:

Ben & Lisa Wright – Ben states that he was amazed by the benefits once they became members of EOPP. ‘I couldn’t believe it – it really makes a big difference for us.’ The couple have found that they get substantial discounts on some items as a result of their membership, and they have also found that having their bills consolidated into one bill from EOPP makes for a lot less paperwork.

Genevieve Hull – being a member of EOPP saves Genevieve from having to establish separate accounts with all the suppliers that the farm uses. Genevieve finds that it also saves time when paying the bills, as everything is streamlined into one bill. Farm staff are able to easily use the card as well, which helps with administration. Of course, the affordable prices made possible through the buying power of EOPP are also a great benefit.
