Esperance Fire Services, owned and operated by Zen Boydell, is a local business that stands out for its commitment to customer service, community support, and ensuring fire safety compliance.

Zen’s Story

Zen’s connection to the Esperance region runs deep, he was born in the Esperance region and grew up in Dalyup and Cascades. Zen’s wife Brooke has also lived in Esperance most of her life, and their two children completed their schooling locally with their eldest daughter now working at CBH.

Early in his career, Zen spent seven years with Esperance Ag Services followed by nine years with Farm and General.

By the time 2014 rolled around, Zen was ready for a new opportunity; something that would get him out of the office, with a change of scenery. When Esperance Fire Services came up for sale in 2014, Zen leapt at the opportunity.

Supporting the local Esperance community

Esperance Fire Services is not just a business; it is an integral part of the community. Zen and his team take immense pride in their local roots and their commitment to giving back. As a small local business, they employ three long-term Esperance locals and reinvest approximately $10,000 back into the community each year through sponsorships and donations. This dedication to supporting their community sets Esperance Fire Services apart and fosters a sense of trust and reliability amongst the community.

Fire safety WA-wide

Esperance Fire Service’s reach extends far beyond the town limits. With clients spanning from Bremer Bay across to York and Beverley, they also make monthly trips to Kalgoorlie, travelling as far as Laverton. Additionally, twice a year, Zen and his team venture all the way to Nullarbor Road House. As an EOPP Supplier, Esperance Fire’s services are easily accessible to EOPP members, making it convenient for farmers and businesses to engage their expertise.

Esperance Fire Services goes beyond providing fire extinguishers, they strive to ensure comprehensive fire safety compliance. With Work Health and Safety in the agricultural industry under the spotlight, Esperance Fire Services offer an on-farm service to assist farmers in meeting their obligations. They provide expertise in fire safety compliance as well as electrical test and tagging, a critical aspect of maintaining a safe working environment.

When it comes to fire extinguishers, compliance with Australian Standards is paramount. Esperance Fire emphasises the importance of adhering to AS1851-2012, which mandates regular servicing and proper documentation. Simply purchasing new extinguishers does not guarantee compliance. Esperance Fire educates their clients on these regulations, ensuring they have a clear understanding of their obligations and the steps required to meet them.
